Job summary

CBI Home Health is seeking an Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) for the Peterborough Region. The role involves preparing clients for treatment, teaching therapy programs, and assisting with modalities and equipment.

Qualifications

• You possess a post-secondary diploma as an Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA).
• Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Insurance, and reliable vehicle is required.
• You have knowledge of mobility aids and assistive equipment.
• Your focus is to embrace and support person- and family-centered care.
• You are passionate, empathetic, use good judgement and apply critical thinking when making decisions.
• You communicate well and can collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clients for treatment and progress clients through treatment programs.
• Assist with and/or teach client therapy programs and training activities of daily living.
• Assist in the use of therapeutic equipment including setup, take down, and cleaning/disinfecting.
• Apply modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, IFC, EMS, TENS, and Low Intensity).
• Write clear professional, objective and accurate documentation in client records.

What you will need to be successful

• You possess a post-secondary diploma as an Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA)
• Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Insurance, and reliable vehicle is required
• You have a general knowledge of mobility aids and assistive equipment
• Your focus is to embrace and support person and family-centered care
• You are passionate, empathetic, use good judgement and apply critical thinking when making decisions
• You are known for your excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaboration within an interdisciplinary team as well as work independently
• You value the role a therapist plays in keeping clients at home when that is of personal importance

What's the role:

• Prepare clients for treatment and progress clients through treatment programs
• Assist with and/or teach client therapy programs and training activities of daily living, including the use of assistive equipment and balance training
• Assist in the use of therapeutic equipment including set up, take down, and cleaning/disinfecting. Ensure equipment is in good working order
• Apply modalities, including but not limited to heat, ice, ultrasound, IFC, EMS, TENS, and Low Intensity
• Responsible for writing clear professional, objective and accurate documentation in client communication records
