Job summary

CBI Home Health is seeking an Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) for a part-time role in Ottawa East. You will prepare clients for treatment and progress through therapy with assistive devices and training in daily living activities.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team, ensuring client-centered care and compassionate support to help clients stay in their homes.

Qualifications

• You possess a post-secondary diploma as an Occupational Therapy/ Physiotherapy Assistant (OTA/PTA)
• Valid Driver's License, Vehicle Insurance, and reliable vehicle is required
• You have a general knowledge of mobility aids and assistive equipment
• Your focus is to embrace and support person and family-centered care
• You are passionate, empathetic, use good judgement and apply critical thinking when making decisions
• You are known for your excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaboration within an interdisciplinary team as well as work independently
• You value the role a therapist plays in keeping clients at home when that is of personal importance

Responsibilities

• Prepare clients for treatment and progress clients through treatment programs
• Assist with and/or teach client therapy programs and training activities of daily living, including the use of assistive equipment and balance training
• Assist in the use of therapeutic equipment including set up, take down, and cleaning/disinfecting. Ensure equipment is in good working order
• Apply modalities, including but not limited to heat, ice, ultrasound, IFC, EMS, TENS, and Low Intensity
• Responsible for writing clear professional, objective and accurate documentation in client communication records
