Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to support OT/PT services across Banfield Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital and Banfield at Villa Cathay.

Under supervision, you will implement lower risk interventions, demonstrate activities, adapt devices and assist patients with daily living skills, while coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to promote independence and safe care.

Job Summary

Come work as a Rehabilitation Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as part of the Long Term Care team working across Banfield Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital and Banfield at Villa Cathay!

Within the context of a patient/client/resident and family centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, the practice supervision of the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Practice Coordinators and the work direction of designated occupational therapist and physiotherapist, in coordination with the other interdisciplinary team members to carry out established rehabilitative activities in both occupational therapy (OT) and physiotherapy (PT) scopes of practice. Responsibilities include receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence, providing functional direction to patient/client/residents and family, and assisting with practicing daily living skills. Reports relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours, provides direction to volunteers, organizes and cleans equipment and supplies for activities, and maintains established inventory of supplies.

• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program.
