Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) seeks a Rehabilitation Assistant to support patient and resident therapy at Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria, BC. Under supervision, you will assist with therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities to maintain and improve functional abilities.

You will coordinate with therapists, transport patients, and guide volunteers in activity programs, ensuring safety and reporting progress to the treating staff therapist.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or equivalent.

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Manager or designate. Under the general direction of the treating Staff Therapist, carries out individual and group therapeutic, recreational, and physical activities to improve and maintain the functional abilities of patients and residents. Performs related functions such as providing direction to volunteers during activity programs, transporting patients and residents to and from treatment or activity area, and reporting observations on progress to Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
