Job summary

Spectrum Health Care’s Community Advantage Rehabilitation (CAR) is hiring Rehabilitation Assistants to support safe, client-centered care in Ajax. Starting at $21.26/hour with a pension, you’ll join a collaborative team and enjoy flexible scheduling and growth opportunities.

As an OTA/PTA, you will assist in therapies, train clients on devices, monitor progress, document accurately, and educate clients and caregivers to promote independence and safety at home.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant Program (Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate) from a recognized community college program or program, designed to education and provide the skills and abilities required to assist a therapist.
• Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and basic computer skills
• Current police check for work with the vulnerable sector
• Additional languages, training, experience as asset is an asset but not required
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on physiotherapy and occupational therapy interventions under the guidance of a supervising therapist, assisting clients with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and activities of daily living (ADL) retraining
• Assist in training clients on adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and mobility aids to enhance independence and safety
• Monitor client progress, maintain accurate documentation, and report changes to the supervising PT/OT
• Educate clients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, equipment usage, and strategies for maintaining safety and independence
• Assess and maintain safe, comfortable home environments that support client health and well-being
• Demonstrate compassionate, respectful care in all interactions while advocating for patient rights and participating in ongoing professional development
