Why this role is important?

Summary:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
2. Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications, handle third-party adjudication, and set realistic wait time expectations.
3. Cash Handling: Locate prescriptions, process transactions, and maintain confidentiality and privacy.

Administration:

1. Manage prescription orders, including new and repeat prescriptions, and prepare orders excluding controlled substances.
2. Handle third-party billing, answer phones, and manage incoming faxes according to standards.
3. File documentation accurately as per pharmacy standards.

Prescription Workflow:

1. Assist in prescription preparation, data entry, and refill management.
2. Select, count, package, and label prescriptions following standards.
3. Maintain accurate data within pharmacy systems.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Registered with the provincial licensing college.
2. Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
3. Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
4. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
5. High attention to detail.
