SUMMARY:

Assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support pharmacy services, and participate in maintaining pharmacy operations according to the Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and friendly service to customers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet customers promptly and gather prescription information according to Standards.
• Perform duties based on assigned roles and prioritize accordingly.
• Refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Accurately dispense prescription medications.
• Handle third-party adjudication as required.
• Set realistic customer expectations regarding wait times.
• Locate prescriptions and ancillary items, and process payments.
• Refer customers requiring counseling to the Pharmacist.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times.

ADMINISTRATION

• Process new and repeat prescriptions following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
• Manage third-party billing and online accounts.
• Answer phone inquiries and refer to a pharmacist when necessary.
• Manage incoming faxes and file documentation accurately.

PRESCRIPTION WORKFLOW

• Assist in prescription preparation adhering to company standards and professional services.
• Enter data for new prescriptions and manage refill requests.
• Select, count, measure, package, and label prescriptions accurately.
• Maintain data within pharmacy systems precisely.

Skills and Qualifications

• Registered with the provincial licensing college.
• Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
