Job description

Why this role is important?
Summary:

To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as per the Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information according to Standards, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
  2. Dispensing: Accurately dispense prescription medications, handle third-party adjudication as required, and set appropriate customer expectations regarding wait times.
  3. Cash Handling: Locate and cash out prescriptions and ancillary items, maintain confidentiality and privacy.
Administration:
  1. Process new and repeat prescription orders following Standard Operating Procedures.
  2. Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
  3. Manage third-party billing, handle incoming faxes, answer phones, and file documentation accurately.
Prescription Workflow:
  1. Assist in prescription preparation according to company standards and professional services.
  2. Enter data for new prescriptions and manage refill requests.
  3. Select medications, count, measure, package, and label prescriptions following Pharmacy Standards.
  4. Maintain accurate data within Pharmacy systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Registered with the relevant provincial licensing college.
  2. Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
  3. Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  4. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Attention to detail.
