Salary Range

$71,846.00 – $115,129.00. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification, and experience, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

What It Takes

The Biology Department in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Douglas College is seeking applicants for a probationary regular faculty position beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. We are also considering applicants to add to our contract teaching list for the department.

You will instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners, and maintain quality learner-centered instruction.

Successful applicants should have a minimum of a Master of Science degree (PhD preferred) in a biological science discipline from an accredited university and must have experience in teaching first-year courses in General Biology as well as Anatomy and Physiology, or their equivalents, at a recognized post-secondary institution. In addition, applicants should have qualifications and experience to teach one or more of the upper-level Biology courses offered by the Department.

Applicants will be considered for this position based upon their experience, qualifications, and availability.

Desired Applicant
  • MSc (PhD preferred) in the Biological Sciences or a related field;
  • Proven ability to teach effectively at the post-secondary level;
  • Ability to teach one or more upper-level (second and/or third-year) courses;
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team;
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development in the Department;
  • A willingness to contribute positively to the college community.
Additional Information

The Biology Department has a full-time regular teaching position available, beginning in the Fall 2025 Semester. Successful candidates will need to be available to teach at either the New Westminster or Coquitlam Campus.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.
