The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices a culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe, and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres, with a total of 23 schools.

Description

The Registrar is responsible for providing support to students within the South Shore Regional Centre for Education. The role involves working within the Inclusive Education Policy framework by participating in individualized program planning with school staff and families to maximize learning experiences for students.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education - Secondary
Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience teaching grades 10-12
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, and electronic), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with school and inter-agency teams to support early intervention strategies, coordination of services, problem-solving, and program planning
  • Proven ability to work as a contributing member of school program planning and multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge and experience in culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Current knowledge of developmental trauma and its impact on learning, communication, and social engagement
  • Willingness to engage in continuing education and professional development
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and teaching strategies based on students' needs
  • Ability to employ non-violent crisis intervention techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate teaching strategies and coach school staff as needed
  • Ability to maintain and promote confidentiality
  • Experience in planning and developing training related to students with behaviors of concern
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural and racial backgrounds
  • Ability to value others' voices and contributions while remaining open to feedback
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire
