Job description

Responsibilities

The Outpatient Registrar schedules, greets, and registers patients in a courteous and professional manner. The Registrar verifies insurance benefits, checks for authorization, pre-certification, physician order accuracy, and referral necessity.

Essential Functions:

  1. Obtains patient signatures for required forms and collects patient financial responsibility when necessary.
  2. Uses appropriate and professional verbal communication skills when interacting with patients and other internal and external customers, both on the telephone and in person, to convey a high level of personal attention and promote customer satisfaction.
  3. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of insurance and managed care plans by reading insurance memos and bulletins, maintaining files, and utilizing online insurance tools to assist patients and ensure correct handling of payer information.
  4. Accurately records and verifies all patient information during interviews to ensure completeness of patient records.
Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED required; at least 1 year of experience in Patient Access/Registration, Admissions, Central Scheduling, or Call Center.
