Job description

Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT
Department: Surgery
Location: Victoria, BC

Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is welcoming an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT to join our Surgery Department!

This role involves working closely with our surgery team, including two board-certified surgeons, to provide excellent care to patients requiring surgical services. The successful candidate will possess exceptional patient care and technical skills, including anesthesia.

You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement in cases with varying complexity. Additionally, a board-certified anesthesiologist is available for protocols and procedures consultation. Previous experience in a specialty surgery role is an asset but not required.

Compensation: $19.00 to $38.00 per hour. The rate varies depending on the location and other factors.

Schedule: This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) for a maternity leave (1 year) starting late April 2025. Shifts are 10 hours, 4 days per week.

  • Registered Veterinary Technician or eligible to register
  • Perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, and patient assessment
  • Willing to enhance technical skills, including anesthesia and mechanical ventilators
  • Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for working with colleagues and pet parents
  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records
  • Strong problem-solving skills
