Job summary

Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Hospital in Nova Scotia is seeking a Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our collaborative team. We offer full-time or part-time roles with flexible scheduling, a bright renovated facility, and no on-call shifts.

You will assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and anesthesia, manage IV catheters and lab work, educate clients, maintain records, and mentor new graduates while delivering outstanding patient care daily.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Veterinary Technician or Animal Health Technician program, with eligibility for registration in the applicable province.
• Strong knowledge of patient care, anesthesia, pharmacology, and clinical procedures.
• Strong technical skills in venipuncture, IV placement, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, and patient assessment.
• Ability to safely handle and restrain animals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Clinical & Surgical Assistance: Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and procedures including anesthesia monitoring and recovery.
• Comprehensive Patient Care: Place IV catheters, administer meds, collect laboratory samples.
• Client Education & Compassionate Support: Educate clients on meds, treatments, nutrition, preventive care and at-home care.
• Medical Records: Maintain patient files, logs and inventory.
• Team Collaboration: Work with team to deliver exceptional patient and client experiences.
• Team Training: Mentor new graduates and veterinary assistants.
• Patient Appointments: Assist with 8+ scheduled and walk-in appointments daily.
