Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Medical Radiation Technologist’s (MRT) key responsibilities include:
- Performing radiographic and CT examinations.
- Monitoring and adjusting equipment to ensure high-quality radiographs and a safe working environment across all shifts.
- Providing instruction to patients before and during examinations.
- Assessing the relevance of examinations based on patient clinical history.
- Maintaining competency in radiology and CT examinations performed within the department.
All duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required:
- 3-year community college or undergraduate degree.
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario in Radiography or eligibility for registration.
- Professional Liability Insurance.
- Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (or eligibility).
- Working knowledge of the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Technical experience with Digital Radiography and Computed Radiography equipment, including Operating Room experience.
- Current PACS experience.
- Current CT experience.
- IV Certification course.
- Advanced Computer Skills.
- Proven interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and staff.
- Competencies in initiative/self-management, problem solving, and accountability.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive advocate for the professional body of Radiology and the Imaging Department.
- Availability to work all shifts, including weekends, standby, and multi-site coverage when required.
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record.
