Job summary

William Osler Health System in Brampton, ON, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for diverse cardio-respiratory care across adult, paediatric and neonatal patients. The role involves instrument maintenance, airway management, and inhaled therapies within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires an accredited RT program, Ontario college registration, and current critical care certifications (BCLS/ACLS/NRP).

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • CSRT and RTSO membership preferred.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, NRP certifications.
  • PALS certification preferred.
  • Adult intubation and arterial line insertion certifications.
  • Neonatal intubation certification preferred.
  • Active continuing education participation.
  • Demonstrated collaboration in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Clinical expertise, critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Demonstrates Osler values: Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration.
  • Excellent work performance and attendance.
  • Willingness to travel between Osler sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Consulting as a resource to the patient care team regarding cardio-respiratory technical and/or clinical issues.
  • Respiratory assessment of the adult, paediatric and neonatal patient.
  • Maintenance and calibration of cardio-respiratory devices and monitoring equipment including advanced ventilatory modalities.
  • Providing expertise in airway management.
  • Initiation and application of O2 therapy and adjuncts.
  • Delivery of medications by inhalation.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to plan care.
  • Applying evidence-based guidelines in respiratory therapy.
  • Reporting workload measures and participating in quality assurance.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:

  • Consulting as a resource to the patient care team regarding cardio-respiratory technical and/or clinical issues
  • Respiratory assessment of the adult, paediatric and neonatal patient
  • Ongoing application, maintenance and calibration of cardio-respiratory support devices and monitoring equipment including advanced ventilatory modalities and ventilatory strategies
  • Providing expertise in airway management
  • Providing expertise in the initiation and application of O2 therapy and adjuncts
  • Providing expertise in the delivery of medication by inhalation
  • Consulting with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team in devising a plan of care
  • Utilizes evidenced based guidelines in the practice of respiratory therapy
  • Reporting workload measures and participating in quality assurance activities
  • Other related duties as assigned
Job qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program
  • Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Member of CSRTand RTSOpreferred
  • Current BCLS, ACLS, NRP certification
  • Current PALS certification preferred
  • Current certification in adult intubation and adult radial arterial line insertion
  • Current certification in neonatal intubation preferred
  • Actively participates in continuing education
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
  • Excellent work performance and attendance record
  • Travel between and work at all Osler sites as operationally require
Additional information

Hours: Currently days/nights, 12 hours shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

The successful candidate may be scheduled or reassigned at any Osler site based on operational needs.

Salary:
Minimum: $41.98 per hour
Maximum: $54.52 per hour
