Job summary

Southlake Health is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide coverage across all hospital areas, including birthing units, ICU, ED, and wards. You will join a dynamic interdisciplinary team focused on quality patient care and patient flow.

Regular part-time hires may qualify for a Bonus Incentive up to $4,000 over the first two years of continuous employment, plus career development and wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • RRT registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists (General Class).
  • BCLS and NRP required; ACLS preferred.
  • Experience with asthma and COPD patient education preferred.
  • Demonstrated communication, teamwork and customer service abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to various codes within the organization as part of the CCOT team.
  • Set up, maintain and monitor respiratory equipment and provide therapy coverage across units.

About the role:

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide coverage to all areas of the hospital. The successful candidate will be motivated, self-directed and a key member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with defined roles focused on quality patient care and patient flow. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting. New regular part-time employees hired into this department will be eligible for the Bonus Incentive payment of up to $4000.00 payable at established internals over the course of the first 2 years of continuous active employment. What you’ll be doing:
  • Member of the CCOT team, responsible for responding to various codes within the organization.
  • Responsible for the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of respiratory equipment. Providing Respiratory Therapy coverage in the birthing unit, critical care units, emergency department, wards, and the pulmonary function lab.
What you bring:
  • RRT registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists in the General Class
  • Practice according to the standards and guidelines set out by the College
  • BCLS and NRP required
  • ACLS preferred
  • Experience with asthma and COPD patient education preferred
  • Knowledge of adult education principles is an asset
  • Experience working with paediatrics and neonates preferred
  • Participates in the CRTO's Quality Assurance Program
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills
