Central Zone Recovery Alberta in partnership with the RCMP are excited to offer a Rural RCMP & Crisis Response Dyad team. This program addresses the needs involving individuals experiencing a mental health, addiction, or psycho-social crisis. The team is mobile and able to respond to rural areas in and around Wetaskiwin. We are seeking an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse whose main role is to divert individuals who are in crisis from the justice system and emergency departments. Responsibilities include crisis stabilization, assessment, and referral/connectivity to appropriate resources. This will involve working closely with the RCMP to generate positive solutions for individuals experiencing Addiction and Mental Health issues, thus reducing interactions for individuals with police, justice, and hospital systems. Although this position has been listed as located within the Wetaskiwin Recovery Alberta Clinic, the position will be within the RCMP detachment to facilitate the working partnership with the RCMP. Confirmed rotation is days/evenings, i.e. extended 9.75 hour workdays Monday to Thursday, rotating between 0900-1900 week one and 1300-2300 week two. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Mental Health. Minimum of two (2) years of Community Mental Health experience. A working knowledge of Psychiatric pharmacology. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, Master of Nursing.
