Job summary

The County's H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in Prince Edward County seeks Registered Practical Nurses (part-time) to join our long-term care team. Positions cover day/evening lines six shifts biweekly and nights seven shifts biweekly, with weekend coverage.

Reporting to the Director of Care, you deliver compassionate, quality life care aligned with our mission and values. Candidate must hold a Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, have post-secondary nursing education,

Qualifications

• Post-secondary nursing education with a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Prior experience in a long-term care facility.
• Ability to meet legislated standards and guidelines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to show respect, tact, diplomacy and good judgement with residents and staff.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening within 6 months and TB test within 12 months.

Registered Practical Nurses (Part-time) - Existing Vacancy

H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in idyllic Prince Edward County is currently accepting applications from Registered Practical Nurses for permanent part-time positions for both day/evening lines (six shifts biweekly) and night lines (seven shifts biweekly). All lines include weekend shifts.

Reporting to the Director of Care, this position is responsible for providing quality life care that encompasses the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of all of our residents, in alignment with our Mission, Vision and Values statement.

WHAT YOU BRING TO US

• An interest in our night shifts from 2200 – 0600 hours. In return we offer healthy premium payments on top of your regular hourly rate!
• Successful completion of post-secondary education in the designated nursing field with a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility.
• Ability to work within legislated standards and guidelines.
• Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to exercise respect, tact, diplomacy and good judgement with residents and staff.
• Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Proof of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening Check dated within the last six months, and proof of a two-step tuberculin skin test within the last twelve months.

WHAT WE PROVIDE TO YOU

• $37.88 to $39.13 per hour as per the UNIFOR Local 8300 Collective Agreement
• $12,500 from Ontario Health if you qualify and commit to H.J. McFarland for 24-months (see below for details)

• 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation on top of your regular hourly rate
• Competitive premium payments for evening, night, and weekend shifts
• Time to build seniority before our new 160-bed facility opens in 2027 and staffing increases!
