Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver professional nursing care to residents in our long-term care setting. You will work under the guidance of the RN and provide direction to Personal Support Workers on the unit.

In this role you will liaise with physicians and the broader health care team, ensuring timely communication of changes in resident status and contributing to care planning and procedure updates. Opportunities for training and career advancement are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in geriatric or long-term care nursing.
• Knowledge of relevant acts and standards affecting nursing home operations.
• Current Certificate of Competence and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the RN to implement AgeCare policies on the unit.
• Liaise with physicians and the health care team, including external partners.
• Notify physician of significant changes in resident status when RN is unavailable.
• Provide direction to Personal Support Workers on the care team.
• Participate in shift reports to keep the team informed of resident status changes.

The Registered Practical Nurse provides direction to the Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice Working with Unregulated Health Care Workers.Apply today to become a valued member of our team!What You Will DoIn collaboration with the Registered Nurse, implements AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit. Provides input into the revision of procedures within the residence and the unit.Liaises with physicians and other members of the health care team including external health care partners.
