Salary Range: $38.80 - $39.19 /hour

St. Joseph's Health Care is willing to consider applicants who are eligible for Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). This program provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible RN, RPN & Nurse Practitioners in exchange for a two-year full-time commitment. We require a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to provide patient centered care with a rehabilitation focus for a diverse population of clients including the frail elderly and patients of all ages with a musculoskeletal diagnosis. Specialized Geriatric Services includes the: Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Unit, Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit, and Amputee Rehabilitation Unit.

The 30 bed Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit, 20 bed Musculoskeletal Unit, and 6 bed Amputee Unit are part of Specialized Geriatric Services. We provide comprehensive geriatric assessment and management as well as an intensive rehabilitation program. Our patients are typically admitted from acute care and participate in our program for approximately 10 days to 6 weeks. Upon discharge, our patients commonly return to independent living in the community. As an integral part of an expert health care team, this is an exciting opportunity for clinical learning and skill development.

The successful candidate may be required to work anywhere within the program and must be available for all shifts. It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer.

Essential Qualifications
  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Successful completion of a nursing competency test
  • Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
  • Experience and knowledge of the care of patients requiring musculoskeletal rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation and amputee rehabilitation
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated ability in following RPN full scope of practice
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and document the nursing process
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize day to day responsibilities suitable for a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply effective body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Certification for phlebotomy and IV starts
  • Previous experience working with individuals demonstrating responsive behaviours and/or current certifications (GPA, P.I.E.C.E.S., etc)

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
