Job summary

Quinte Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join Sills 3, a combined rehab/integrated stroke unit. You will provide patient-centered care within an 8-hour unit, contributing to both acute and rehabilitation goals.

You will be involved in assessment, teaching, documentation, and adherence to provincial regulations and hospital policies, while supporting quality improvement and patient-family education in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
• Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients in an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
• Perform acts requiring specialized nursing knowledge, skills and judgement for acute medical patients.
• Provide teaching and coaching to patients and families.
• Maintain nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
• Comply with provincial legislation, hospital policy and professional regulatory standards and best practices.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing development and training.
• Participate in unit/department and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to health and safety policies to maintain a safe workplace.
• Support Quinte Health values and promote a positive patient experience.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Sills 3 is a combined rehab/integrated stroke unit that provides patient centered care with a multi-disciplinary team approach. The Nurse provides nursing care for patients who are acute stokes in addition to rehab patients i.e. stokes, fracture hips, deconditioning in medical/surgical patients. This unit is an 8-hour unit.

Required

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
• Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check.

Duties

• Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
• Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
• Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
• Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
• Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated.
• Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
• Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
• Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
• Other duties as assigned.
