Job Description

The RPN/LPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care.

For Union Jobs, please refer to the collective agreement and provide the following additional information in the Job Description:

  • Union Local: 3127
  • Union Classification (Title): RPN or LPN as applicable
  • Salary: RPN Visit Rate
  • Nursing Schedule: As per collective agreement
  • Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required
For both Non-Union and Union jobs, the below description will apply:
General Responsibilities
  • Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies. Observe, report, and record vital signs, symptoms, and conditions of residents/patients. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
  • Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review, and evaluate care plans. Monitor health, note changes in condition, and assess the need for referral to doctors. Process and implement physicians’ orders.
Qualifications
  • Current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province
  • Previous managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare preferred
  • Experience dealing with cognitively impaired individuals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices, including Infection Control Practices
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, active listening, friendly demeanor
  • Ability to analyze information, think critically, and develop creative solutions
  • Organizational, planning, time management, and multi-tasking skills
