Job summary

Quinte Health in Ontario is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to join our two-site program at Trenton Memorial Hospital and Belleville General Hospital. You will provide comprehensive preoperative and perioperative nursing care and collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure the best patient outcomes.

Candidates must hold RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate, CPR/BCLS, and have at least two years’ OR experience in the last

Required

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario,
• Completed Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate,
• Current CPR or BCLS certificate
• Minimum of 2 years’ operating room experience in the last 5 years
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
• Available to work all shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and on call duty
• Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and have strong organizational skills
• Must have satisfactory work performance and attendance in present position
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review),
• Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and the class of lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged
• Must have a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check.

Duties

• Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
• Provides preoperative teaching to patients & families as required
• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the operating room environment
• Responsible to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
• Maintains nursing records.
• Participates in Quality Improvement programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
