Job summary

Schlegel Villages' Village at St. Clair in Windsor, Ontario invites a Registered Practical Nurse to join our compassionate care team.

This unscheduled part-time role supports residents at 1800 Talbot Road, starting July 23, 2026, with a competitive wage under our collective agreement. You will maintain CNON registration, CPR, follow care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver resident-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered practical nurse with current Ontario license.
  • CPR certification required (HeartSave level).
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage stress in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Hold current HeartSave CPR certification.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time to complete duties.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely per care plans.
  • Follow care plans and report changes promptly.
  • Understand long‑term care regulations (LTC Act 2021, OHSA).
  • Support resident-centered social culture and high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to assess needs and facilitate moves.
  • Coordinate with neighborhood physician during rounds and update plans.
  • Maintain communication and computer skills to update care plans.

The Village at St. Clair seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to join our care team at 1800 Talbot Road, Windsor, Ontario. The position is unscheduled part‑time, starting July 23, 2026, with a hiring rate of $32.51 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Hold current HeartSave Level of CPR certification.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, plan and allocate time to complete duties while remaining calm and managing stress.
  • Administer medication and treatments safely, accurately, and in alignment with residents’ quality‑of‑life requests.
  • Follow care plans or service plans per the College of Nurses’ standards, and promptly report changes in residents’ well‑being.
  • Understand relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations in the long‑term care sector, including the Long‑Term Care Act, 2021, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario.
  • Support a resident‑centered social culture and deliver the highest quality of personal care.
  • Collaborate with the Village and neighborhood multidisciplinary team to assess residents’ individual needs, advocate for resident participation in decisions about care, facilitate new resident move‑ins, and support transfers to hospital.
  • Work with the neighborhood physician during weekly rounds and update care plans accordingly.
  • Maintain proficient communication and computer skills to update care plans in the current system.
  • Recognize the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role.
  • Demonstrate alignment with the organization’s vision, mission, and values, including caring relationships, persistence, positivity, a can‑do attitude, creativity, hard work, humility, and the Customer Experience Credo.
Preferred Asset Qualifications
  • MDS credentials.
  • Experience working with persons living with dementia.
  • Knowledge of the palliative assessment scale.
  • Comfortable supporting residents and families during end‑of‑life care.
  • In‑depth knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices applicable to retirement and long‑term care (e.g., RAI processes, CIHI, supplies, equipment ordering).
