Job Description

The RPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care.

General Responsibilities

• Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies. Observe, report, and record vital signs, symptoms, and conditions of residents/patients. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
• Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review, and evaluate care plans. Monitor health, note changes in condition, and assess the need for referral to doctors. Process and implement physicians’ orders.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the approved institutions for the province.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the approved institutions for the province.
• Previous supervisory experience in long-term care preferred.
• Experience dealing with cognitively impaired individuals.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices, including infection control practices.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. An active listener with a friendly demeanor.
• Ability to analyze information thoroughly and develop creative solutions.
• Strong organizational, planning, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
