Job summary

Baycrest is seeking a Temporary Part-Time RPN to provide specialized care in their Physical Support and Mental Health Units. The role includes collaboration with RNs, client assessments, and delivering comprehensive care in a team setting. Ideal candidates will be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have a strong background in nursing, especially within Long-Term Care. This position is suitable for those passionate about aging and cognitive health.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Long-Term Care, day programs, or community settings preferred.
  • Psychogeriatric experience including mental health assessment.
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred.

Position Type: Temporary Part-Time (Up to 3 months)

Shift Type: Day, alternate weekends (subject to change)

Hourly Pay Rate:

$37.560 - $38.160

Bi-Weekly Hours:

30 Hours, 8 hrs/shift

Shift Hours: 10:30-18:30

Baycrest 3 is a mix of Physical Support, Transitional Behavioural Support, and Mental Health Units. The residents on these units require a specialized environment and care team to assist with their activities of daily living. This setting is ideal for those interested in understanding aging and the cognitive or mental health challenges in this population.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with RNs to provide clinical expertise and comprehensive, client/family-centered healthcare services from admission through transfer and discharge.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing interventions, including medications and treatments within the RPN’s scope of practice.
  • Perform client assessments.
  • Provide client-centered care within an interdisciplinary team to meet personal care, activation, recreation, and spiritual needs.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level C certification, including AED.
  • Experience in Long-Term Care, day programs, or community settings preferred.
  • Certificate in Dementia Care preferred.
  • Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and U-First preferred.
  • Psychogeriatric experience, including mental health assessment, intervention, and working with responsive behaviors, dementia, delirium, and mental health issues preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Basic computer skills, including MDS/RAI, Point Click Care, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred.
