The Opportunity

The Registered Practical Nurse provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice. They also provide direction to Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice Working with Unregulated Health Care Workers.

What Is In It For You
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to implement AgeCare policies and procedures on the unit, and contribute to their revision.
  • Liaise with physicians and other healthcare team members, including external partners. Notify the physician immediately of significant changes in resident status in the absence of the RN.
  • Work with the healthcare team to meet residents’ care needs.
  • Provide direction to Personal Support Workers.
  • Participate in shift reports to ensure all team members are informed of resident status changes.
What You Will Need
  • Knowledge and experience in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, Health Disciplines Act, and others pertinent to nursing home operations.
  • A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and membership in good standing.
