The Opportunity:

The Registered Practical Nurse provides professional nursing care to residents according to medical needs and nursing standards. They also direct Personal Support Workers as defined by the College of Nurses Standard of Practice and working with unregulated health care workers.

What Is In It For You:

  1. Implement AgeCare policies and procedures in collaboration with the Registered Nurse, providing input for revisions.
  2. Liaise with physicians and other health care team members, including external partners. Notify the physician of significant resident status changes in the absence of the RN.
  3. Work with the health care team to meet residents’ care needs.
  4. Provide direction to Personal Support Workers.
  5. Participate in shift reports to ensure all team members are informed of resident status changes.

What You Will Need:

  1. Knowledge of geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
  2. Understanding of relevant legislation such as the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, Health Disciplines Act, and others listed, as well as the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice.
  3. A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and membership in good standing.
