Job summary

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join the Operating Room team on a temporary full-time (approximately 7 months) basis. You will provide patient-centered perioperative care and support patients through pre-operative teaching, scrub duties, and post-operative recovery in a state-of-the-art surgical environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Current BCLS
  • Scrubbing competence in all surgical services
  • Minimum of two years RPN experience in acute care
  • Completion of post-diploma Perioperative Nursing Certificate Program
  • IV Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care within the Registered Practical Nurse scope of practice in the Surgical Services department
  • Support patients throughout their perioperative journey, including pre-operative teaching and surgical preparation
  • Assist the surgical team in the Operating Room, including scrub duties during procedures
  • Deliver post-operative care, including Level II recovery support and discharge education
  • Assist in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing care of patients in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Promote patient health, recovery, and well-being through supportive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing interventions
  • Contribute to safe, effective, and compassionate patient care while adhering to College of Nurses of Ontario standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to achieve positive patient outcomes

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time (approximately 7 months)

Reports to: Manager, Perioperative & Obstetrics Services

Reason for Posting: Temporary backfill

Hours of Work: 8 -hour shifts, days, nights & weekends, including on-call

Rate of Pay: $40.13 - $41.22 per hour
