Travel Requirement: Hours (subject to change). Must be available for all shifts (days, weekends, and stat holidays)

Salary Scale: CAD $36.57- $37.79 (2025 NOWU US13 RPN)

Job Description

Are you a Registered Practical Nurse looking to advance your surgical skills? Mount Sinai Hospital's Operating Room (OR) offers a unique opportunity to develop specialized technical skills related to surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

You'll have a direct impact on patient outcomes and the chance to broaden your experience beyond the traditional scrub nurse role by learning to second-circulate and rotate through various surgical services.

About this team:

Over 16,000 surgeries are performed annually at Mount Sinai Hospital. We are recognized for our Cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Orthopedic Surgery programs. Our main OR features three MIS suites. Sponsorship for OR certification is available, and our staff recognition programs foster a positive work environment.

In this role you will:
  • Perform as a scrub nurse
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
  • Conduct nursing interventions within the RPN scope
  • Participate in patient assessment
  • Implement patient care plans and assist with surgical interventions
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members
  • Advocate for patients
  • Ensure smooth unit operations
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Follow Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • 1-2 years' perioperative experience
  • Diploma from a CNO-approved nursing program
  • Completion of a perioperative nursing certificate
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Preferred:

  • Experience with electronic health records
