Job Summary:
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre seeks a licensed RPN responsible for assessing, planning, and providing interventions, utilizing the current Standards of Practice (RPN College of Nurses of Ontario), in accordance with hospital goals and objectives for assigned patients.
Qualifications:
• Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a licensed Registered Practical Nurse.
• Current Basic CPR certificate.
• Current pharmacology certificate.
• Preferred: six (6) months to one (1) year of experience.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with staff and residents.
Job Duties:
• Provide appropriate nursing interventions as outlined by the College of Nurses RPN Scope of Practice.
• Availability to work all shifts and sites as assigned.
• Willingness to work the current 12-hour shift rotation.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and adapt quickly.
• Demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Understanding of First Nation culture and ability to speak Oji-Cree is an asset.
• Maintain concentration amidst interruptions and handle stressful, unpredictable situations.
• Manage hazardous situations involving chemicals, infectious diseases, and challenging patients.
• Practice self-reflection and adjust based on feedback.
• Provide culturally competent, respectful care in line with hospital policies.
• Follow infection control policies, including cleaning, hand hygiene, and PPE use, and attend related training.
