Role Overview
As a member of an inter-professional team and working under full scope of practice, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Providence Care provides safe, effective, patient-centred care in a non-acute setting, following hospital policies and the Standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. The RPN assists patients and caregivers in managing clinical conditions and transitions, enhancing quality of life by addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CPR certificate
- College certificate required; diploma preferred
- Medication Certificate dated after 1985, meeting Ontario College of Nurses requirements if graduated before 1985
Position Responsibilities
- Conducting nursing histories based on information from patients, families, and other sources
- Developing and recording goal-oriented nursing care plans focused on immediate needs in collaboration with patients
- Performing manageable interventions and utilizing available resources
- Following prescribed medical regimes accurately
- Re-assessing and adjusting care plans based on evaluations
- Recognizing unusual patient responses and consulting with team members as needed
