CHEO requires a Float Team nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate pediatric nursing care for patients and families. The role offers variety, covering just-in-time needs or longer-term vacancies across the hospital while adhering to Ontario nursing standards and CHEO policies.
Ideal candidates have pediatric experience with active CNO registration, CPR, medication administration training, and strong communication and teamwork skills; bilingual English/French is preferred.
Compensation Pay Range: $30.41-$37.35
In keeping with CHEO's mission statement, the Float Team nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families. Working for the Float Team is an opportunity to develop a broad range of pediatric skills. Float Team members may be assigned to cover \"just in time\" needs or longer-term vacancies throughout the hospital. The Float Team nurse practices according to the standards of practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and in compliance with CHEO's policies and procedures.
Timeline may be extended or shortened based on operational needs. Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU).
All OPSEU members shall be granted an interview upon passing the pre-screening.
Pre-screening might include testing.
New hires to the Float Team will receive necessary support from the designated Clinical Resource Nurse Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. The process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.
Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
