The Acute Care & Clinical Services is currently seeking two (2)Part-time,Permanent Registered Practical Nurse to work in the Emergency Crisis Service Department. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care. In addition, you will ensure the security, safety of the care environment, and practice in accordance with the CNO standards, CAMH Policies and Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice. You will be expected to perform ongoing assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the inter-professional plan of client care for all clients. You will liaise with other services in the Acute Care Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. You will be expected to utilize critical thinking, a problem solving process and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery.
You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in clinical supervision; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical and care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addiction issues, trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented care, and severe and persistent mental illness. Your strengths include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate interprofessional client centered care plans. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation and weekend work. This position is located at1051 Queen Street West and is 12 hour shifts.
