Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide total patient care within a Primary Nursing model. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support patient-focused care aligned with Sunnybrook's Mission and Values.

The role requires current Ontario Nursing Registration, an RPN Diploma, and BCLS certification, plus experience with Foley catheterization and urology procedures.

Qualifications

• Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration
• RPN Diploma
• Current BCLS
• Minimum one year experience with Foley catheterization
• Experience caring for urology patients
• Experience preparing patients for sterile urological procedures
• Knowledge of urological procedures such as Retrograde Pyelogram and Urethral Dilation
• Experience in surgical setting preferred
• Knowledge of vasectomies, bladder scans and CBI
• Patient teaching skills
• Sterilization and sterile technique knowledge
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and prioritization in stressful environments

Summary of Duties

RPNs are responsible for the total care of a group of residents within a Primary Nursing care delivery model within their scope of practice. The RPN supports the philosophy of Patient-Focused Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RPN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications/Skills

• Recent experience caring for urology patients
• Experience preparing patients for sterile urological procedures
