Registered Practical Nurse - Crisis Critical Care Unit 5
We are seeking two part-time, permanent Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to work on the Crisis Critical Care TX U5 (formerly EPU). As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care, ensuring safety and adherence to CNO standards. Using a primary nursing model, you will collaborate with primary nurses to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate care plans for clients with various mental health issues.
Responsibilities include working with diverse patients, contributing to program development, providing education and supervision to students, and applying knowledge in emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, addiction, trauma, and severe mental illnesses. You should be skilled in behavioral observations, mental status assessments, monitoring responses to treatments, documentation, and team communication. The role involves shift rotation and weekend work, located at 1051 Queen Street West.
Qualifications include being a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, current CPR certification, medication administration certification or completion of an RPN program including medication administration. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of early intervention principles, psychiatric nursing, addiction issues, and the Mental Health Act are preferred. Experience with mental illness or addictions is an asset. Candidates must be organized, self-directed, and culturally competent, with computer literacy and proficiency in English / French or other languages being advantageous.
