Job summary

Sinai Health seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to support the Complex Medical & Palliative Care department. The role emphasizes independent practice within the RPN scope, collaboration with the interprofessional team, and comprehensive documentation of care.

This Temporary Full-Time position (up to 7 months) offers Day/Evening rotations and requires current CNO registration and BCLS. Employment is contingent on credential verification and vaccination status per policy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program.
• Currently registered as an RPN and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Practice independently within the RPN scope of practice per CNO standards and Sinai Health policies.

• Mentor learners, peers and other health professionals.
• Provide health education to patients and families.

In this role you will:

• Practice independently and accountably within the RPN scope of practice, adhering to CNO standards and Sinai Health policies
• Identify changing patient needs to initiate timely consultation and collaboration with Registered Nurses and the wider interprofessional team
• Monitor and document the progress of clinical care plans and outcomes, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize treatment goals and patient safety
• Participate in the mentoring of learners, peers and other regulated and unregulated health professionals
• Provide health education to patients and their families using effective teaching strategies
• Assess spiritual, cultural and psychosocial needs of patients
• Provide comprehensive and accurate documentation of assessments, care provision, and evaluations
• Collaborate with the patient, significant others and multidisciplinary team in the provision of care
• Provide comprehensive and accurate documentation of assessments, care provision, evaluations, discharge and transition planning
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements:

Mandatory

• Graduate of a CNO-approved Practical Nursing (PN) program
• Currently registered as an RPN and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Preferred

• Physical assessment course
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) and clinical documentation
