Accountability Objective

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors? Our RPNs are critical to our communities by supporting residents in doing the things that matter most to them while providing a comfortable, safe, and nurturing environment. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, the RPN focuses on enriching residents' lives by supporting their independence and acting as a team leader for resident care.

Background/Qualifications
  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Recognized nursing license (RPN licensing) and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Previous experience as an RPN in a healthcare setting is an asset.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependability, responsibility, and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude.
  • Resident-oriented mindset aligned with the residence’s values.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (Word and Excel).
Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in quality improvement standards.
  • Assess residents' needs and develop care plans to promote independence.
  • Conduct assessments and make recommendations for residents' suitability and needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and safe medication practices.
  • Update care plans regularly.
  • Provide direct resident care and supervise staff as needed.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to standards.
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance.
  • Ensure infection control protocols are followed.
  • Lead and develop team members to ensure quality service.
  • Handle emergency situations in the absence of a manager.
  • Maintain records and reports of nursing activities.
  • Keep the environment safe and clean.
  • Assist with medication safekeeping.
  • Report incidents and resident status changes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
  • Support co-workers and advocate for residents' rights.
  • Use equipment and supplies effectively and safely.
  • Serve meals and beverages as needed.
  • Perform other duties to ensure smooth residence operations.
  • Comply with policies, mandatory training, and safety regulations.
