Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to deliver patient-centered nursing care to residents in our Canadian senior living communities. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering care plans and ensuring high standards of documentation and communication.

You’ll mentor unregulated care providers and collaborate with families and staff to support residents’ physical and emotional well-being, while upholding provincial care standards and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to teach and mentor unregulated care providers.
• Knowledge of gerontology, rehabilitation, and long-term care is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented nursing care per provincial standards.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and communicate with residents, families, and staff.
• Implement and evaluate care plans, updating as required.
• Teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers with coaching.
• Ensure accurate documentation and assessments.

How You'll Make a Difference

RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care. RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication. RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required. RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required. RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What You Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
