Passport Health, North America's largest travel medicine and immunization provider, is seeking experienced RPNs for part-time roles in Downtown Ottawa and Carlington. Nurses will conduct travel health consultations, administer vaccines, and educate clients, with a strong emphasis on autonomy and one-on-one patient care.

The position offers flexible daytime hours, travel medicine specialization, and paid training, with on-site work and a supportive clinical leadership network.

Salary Range: CA$29.00 To CA$33.00 Annually

Registered Practical (RPN)- Travel Medicine

This isn't a traditional nursing role and that's exactly the point.

Passport Health is North America's largest travel medicine and immunization provider, with 300+ clinics across the Canada & the U.S. We’re looking for experiencedRPNswho are ready to step out of a high‑pressure hospital or traditional clinic setting and into a role built around autonomy, specialized expertise, and genuine one‑on‑one patient connection.

What Makes This Role Different :

Most of our nurses work independently - no charge nurse, no team overhead, no endless task lists. You manage your day by seeing your clients, and providing them with the best experience possible. You will be supported by a network of clinical leadership, but the day-to-day is yours.

Travel medicine is a specialty. You’ll develop deep expertise in vaccine‑preventable diseases, international health risks, and pre‑travel health planning - knowledge most nurses never get to build. Every client interaction is a true consultation, not a check‑the‑box encounter.

Location(s): Downtown Ottawa & Carlington

Employment Type:Part-Time (PT)

Compensation:$29.00 - $33.00/hour

Weekly Hours & Schedule: 8-16 hour/week including every other weekend

What You’ll Do

Conduct in‑depth travel health consultations and educate clients on destination‑specific risks

Administer vaccines per standing orders and monitor for adverse reactions

Recommend and promote travel health products and medications as clinically appropriate

Manage clinic setup, inventory, and compliance with safety and documentation protocols

Support onsite corporate wellness or vaccine clinic events as needed

Complete ongoing travel medicine training - we invest in keeping your clinical knowledge current

Passport Health uses a census‑based scheduling model, similar to what you may have seen in hospital or outpatient settings. We want you going in with realistic expectations. The nurses who thrive here are those who value the trade‑off: less rigidity, more autonomy, and the ability to build a schedule that works for their life and for the business needs, even if that means some week‑to‑week variability.

Here’s what that means in practice:

Hours are based on client demand, which varies slightly by location and season

We create a schedule that offers 3 - 6 months of consistency, helping provide stability, while recognizing that hours are not guaranteed in some markets

To support schedule planning and consistency, we require availability within set scheduling windows, which allows us to provide a clear, forward‑looking view of your work schedule

We do our best to honor availability, and flexibility (preferred day/time coverage, weekends, or willingness to cover multiple locations) can increase your scheduled hours

Peak travel seasons (typically September - March) generally bring higher and more stable volume

What You Need to Succeed

1+ years of clinical nursing experience (travel medicine background a plus, not required)

Comfortable working independently - you won't always have backup in the clinic

Strong patient communication and education skills

Reliable access to a personal computer (training systems require desktop or laptop)

Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)

Current First Aid/CPR certification

Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed (up to 25 lbs)

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computers and peripherals.

Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting patients

Moves and restructures organization of storage room to make space for new inventory
