Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for a temporary part-time role at West Park Healthcare with 15 hours per week. You will work within the 1C Acquired Brain Injury Rehab unit, providing compassionate care under the interdisciplinary team, aligned with the nursing vision and UHN standards.

The role requires an Ontario College of Nurses registration and a Practical Nursing diploma, with neuroscience experience preferred.

Job Summary

As a member of a multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Practical Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

• Plan, manage, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families within the RPN scope of practice in the context of an interdisciplinary practice.
• Use current theoretical and research knowledge and the input of team members to plan and implement care for patients and families
• Participate in inter-professional team care planning forums, inter-professional rounds and family conferences
• Provide mentorship to RPN students and new staff on the unit
• Participate in professional, program and hospital-wide initiatives, including professional development of self
• Compliance with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients

• Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Diploma in Practical Nursing
• Recent related clinical experience in neuroscience nursing preferred
• Neuroscience Nursing Certification an asset
• Effective problem recognition, problem solving and decision making skills
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
• Demonstrated commitment to team success
• Resilience and effective coping strategies to manage change
• Demonstrated computer literacy in word processing and Electronic Patient Record/HIS systems
