Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a part-time Registered Practical Nurse for nephrology-focused care at our Humber River Health – Wilson Site in Toronto. The role involves RN responsibilities, care planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate holds an Ontario RPN license, BCLS, and experience with nephrology-related dialysis care is preferred. Shift rotations include days/evenings/nights on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

Employment Status: Permanent Part-time
Reporting Relationship: Manager, 9 E&W Nephrology & Medicine
Hourly Rate: $38.893 - $39.458
Union Group: NOWU
Hours of work: Rotating shifts, 8 or 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekends
Location: Humber River Health – Wilson Site
Position Responsibilities
  • RN responsibilities for Nephrology focused patients
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
  • Preceptorship of nursing students.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • One year recent medical experience with focus on nephrology.
  • Experience with Peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis preferred.
  • Completion of Nephrology 1 and 2 required or current enrollment preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
