Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health System in Hamilton is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide nursing care in the Surgical Unit across SJHH sites. The role supports health promotion, preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative care within a collaborative team.

You will work with an RN to monitor patient acuity, document care plans, and ensure safe, compassionate services. Required Ontario RPN registration, appropriate diplomas/certificates, and BCLS/HCP.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
• Diploma/certificate in Practical Nursing with IV medication certs as applicable.
• Experience with surgical, bariatric, GI, medical and geriatric patients preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and organize work.

The RPN role models professional values beliefs and attributes and practices in accordance with the SJHH mission and values policies and procedures and College of Nurses Standards and Guidelines. A high level of collaboration between RPN and RN is required to ensure safe and effective care. The RPN provides care for less complex clients whose outcomes are more predictable and risk for negative outcomes is low.
