Job summary

St. Joseph is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide nursing care, assess needs, and support health promotion for clients in the General Internal Medicine unit.

The role requires collaboration with RNs and other clinicians to ensure safe, high-quality care across shifts. The ideal candidate will hold an Ontario Practical Nursing credential with IV medication administration competency, current BCLS, and demonstrated ability to work with telemet ry monitoring and diverse patient

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Education as Practical Nursing Diploma or certificate with IV medication administration.
• Current BCLS/HCP certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of telemetry monitoring and focused clinical assessment preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients families and health-care team.

The Program provides primary secondary and tertiary care to a diverse patient mix embracing all age categories socioeconomic backgrounds ethnicities and education levels. The patient population served by the General Internal Medicine interdisciplinary team includes patients with undifferentiated medical illnesses multiple co-morbidities requiring expertise outside the scope of a single primary care physician specialist or sub-specialist that can be acute or chronic in nature. Our skilled and dedicated interdisciplinary health professional team work collaboratively to provide high quality safe ethical and effective care to the patients and families we serve.Position Summary:The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) provides nursing care for clients to promote health and assess need for provision of care and treatment of health conditions by supportive preventive therapeutic palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal function. The RPN role models professional values beliefs and attributes and practices in accordance with the SJHH mission and values policies and procedures and College of Nurses Standards and Guidelines. A high level of collaboration between RPN and RN is required to ensure safe and effective care. The RPN provides care for less complex clients whose outcomes are more predictable and risk for negative outcomes is low.
