Qualifications

Unit Summary

Juravinski Cancer Centre Clinics (JCC Clinics) provides services to facilitate consultation, planning of specialized care, treatment, and follow-up of patients with cancer. The unit includes specialized oncology nurses, clerks, health care aides, and interacts with physicians and other health professionals.

Position Summary

The RPN supports JCC patients, families, and healthcare team members, working in clinical areas with newly diagnosed oncology patients. Responsibilities include physical assessments, psychosocial support, interventions like dressing changes, assisting with biopsies, injections, and drain care, evaluating referrals, scheduling appointments, and supporting outpatient clinics within scope.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Minimum 3-5 years nursing experience in hospital/outpatient settings.
• Current BCLS certification with ongoing recertification.
• Recent (within 2 years) oncology nursing experience.
• Membership with Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology is an asset.
• Current certificates in Physical Assessment and Health History Taking or equivalent.
• Critical thinking, decision-making, triage skills, and ability to function within an interprofessional team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment and communicate effectively.
• Ongoing professional development and willingness to enroll in oncology-specific foundational courses.
• Computer proficiency with MOSAIQ, Meditech, MS Office.
