Job summary

Aspira Quinte Gardens Retirement Living, part of Sienna Senior Living, is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse on a casual basis to join a caring team in Belleville. You will deliver compassionate nursing care, support residents' health and daily living, and help create a safe, respectful home.

Shifts include nights, evenings and some days; the role requires strong medication administration, careful documentation, and collaboration with the care team to promote residents' dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BCLS certificate holder.
• Medication administration certificate holder.
• Minimum of 1 year of geriatric nursing or related care experience as RPN.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have valid work permit.
• Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to residents.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and standards.
• Document care plans and ensure proper communication with the team.
• Support unregulated care workers with guidance and education.
• Contribute to a culture of dignity and respect in the home.

Shifts: Nights 11:00pm - 7:00am; Evenings 3:00pm - 11:00pm; Days 7:00am - 3:00pm

Must be available for Night shifts and Evening shifts, occasional Day shift.

What makes you a great fit?

• Strong knowledge of safe medication administration, with the ability to prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and the College of Nurses of Ontario standards
• Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to following up on all concerns and complaints forwarded by a Client, family or team members and informs/seeks assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate
• Promoting the Client’s self-care and self-sufficiency, emphasize adaptation and abilities, promote wellness and provide preventative health education, thus by treating the whole person
• Proven ability to complete assessments, RAPS, and individualized care plans accurately and within required timeframes
• Supporting the unregulated care workers through guidance, direction, training and education
• Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration is an asset
• Performing other duties as assigned

What you need to know:

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare and/or Rehabilitation as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
