Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) is currently seeking Registered Nurses for a variety of full‑time, part‑time, and temporary positions.

We offer an expansive range of specialist services, and are designated as an academic health sciences centre.
As a teaching hospital, we are proudly affiliated with Lakehead University and Confederation College and are a host training facility for students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, as well as other medical schools.

Note: Vacancies will vary throughout the year across all programs.
Community Commitment Program for Nurses
TBRHSC is an approved participant in the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) offered through Health Force Ontario. The CCPN provides a $25,000 incentive grant to eligible nurses in exchange for a 24‑month commitment to an eligible employer.
Nurses may also be eligible for two new Northern incentives for nurses who make a two‑year commitment to an eligible employer in Northern Ontario. These are:
* A Northern Top‑Up Grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments after four (4) and eight (8) months of employment with an eligible employer; and
* A Northern Relocation Grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments upon confirmation that an eligible nurse has started employment and after four (4) months of employment with an eligible employer.
Program Eligibility:
* Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired;
* Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
* Begin employment no later than March 31, 2025;
* Commit to two‑years of employment at a full‑time work schedule offered by the employer; and
* Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses.
Any nurse may apply for this position, however only candidates that meet the criteria outlined above are eligible for the CCPN funding.
Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) Program
The Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (the program) is a partnership program between the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), Ontario Health and CNO approved organizations. The program offers applicants the option to complete a supervised practice experience in Ontario.
Looking to complete the SPEP Program? TBRHSC is an approved employer for the Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) program.
Program Eligibility:
* Applicants are eligible if they have met all their registration requirements except for:
* Evidence of Practice, or
* Evidence of Practice and Language Proficiency.
* Evidence of practice must have expired no more than 5 years before applying to the program. Check the applicant portal to see what requirements you have outstanding to determine if you are eligible.
SPEP is available to RN or RPN applicants, including nurses returning to practice. CNO will notify eligible applicants through their portal. Your eligibility must be confirmed by CNO before you can proceed.
Other Qualifications:
* Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Current certification in BCLS
* Recent knowledge in Surgical Nursing with experience caring for pre and postoperative surgical patients with TPN, Neuraxial Analgesia, Patient Controlled Analgesia, Sequential compression device
* Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
* Collaborates and provides consult to Registered Practice Nurse's when patients assigned to the RPN become unstable or have outcomes that are not as expected
* Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
* Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
* Strong interprofessional and communication skills
* Central Venous Line Management
Salary Range: $39.07 to 56.00
