POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and role models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission, vision and values, policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client-centred and evidence-informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function. The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team and assumes a leadership role in delivering a full range of care and treatment to patients/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes.

For the King Campus/Charlton Support position: The successful applicant will provide support and coverage within the hemodialysis program.
Full Time Support positions will be utilized to cover maternity leaves, medical leaves and other long term leaves. The incumbent may be assigned to cover longer term or shorter term/episodic needs in the Hemodialysis program. For the purposes of vacation scheduling and time off requests, the home unit will be King.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current competence in the added nursing skill of Hemodialysis an asset
  • Experience working with renal patients an asset
  • Two years current medical/surgical nursing experience an asset
  • Completion of continuing education courses in: patient and/or adult education, physical assessment
  • C Neph Certification an asset
  • Demonstrated competence in promoting patient independence through supportive patient education
  • Strong communication and team work skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with professional and allied staff
  • A good attendance and work record demonstrating reliability and dependability is essential
  • A resume regarding further education, special courses and experience should accompany the application
  • Proven organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
