Responsibilities

The Locum Program addresses staffing needs in the Eastern Zone through short-term assignments. Reporting to the Site Lead or Health Services Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process and therapeutic relationships to help clients and families attain or maintain health, planning and delivering nursing care collaboratively with colleagues and other health professionals. You may work at various facilities, including Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, and others within the zone.

Qualifications

Qualifications vary based on facility and need. Typical requirements include:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
  • Emergency nursing experience (minimum 1 year for Medical/Surgical, 3 years for Emergency)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS and PALS as assets
  • CTAS, EPICC, TNCC certifications as required for emergency roles
  • Experience working in rural settings and competencies in other languages (French preferred) are assets

Hours and Compensation
  • Full-time, 75 hours bi-weekly, 3-6 months assignments
  • Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays
  • Hourly rate: $40.55 - $49.99; with 25+ years of experience: $51.74
  • Shift premium: $6.00/hour for all hours during assignment
