Responsibilities

The Locum Program addresses staffing needs in the Eastern Zone through short-term assignments. Reporting to the Site Lead or Health Services Manager, the RN assists clients and families to attain/maintain health, plans and delivers nursing care, and provides leadership within the team, working collaboratively across disciplines. You may work at various rural facilities, including Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, Eastern Memorial Hospital, Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Strait Richmond Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital.

About You

We are interested if you meet the following qualifications:

Medical/Surgical Areas:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with NSCN
  • Minimum 1 year emergency nursing experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Current RQI BLS or BLS-C
  • Current RQI ALS or ACLS (asset)
  • Rural experience (asset)
  • Language skills (French preferred)

Emergency Department Areas:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with NSCN
  • Minimum 3 years emergency nursing experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • CTAS certification
  • EPICC Foundations or TNCC certification
  • Current RQI BLS, ALS, PALS, and trauma courses (asset)
  • Experience in rural settings (asset)

Hours
  • Full-time, 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Assignments 3-6 months
  • Shifts include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$40.55 - $49.99/hour, plus $6/hour shift premium

With 25 years of RN experience, salary can reach $51.74/hour.
